Welcome to the Jungle

...And we will have fun and games but this blog is dedicated to the journey of my final year of my doctorate. So Hi, I'm Rebecca and I'm a third year marine chemical ecology doctoral candidate! I'm a very keen scuba diver (Hello PADI Divemaster friends!), mental health and wellbeing advocate, disability advocate and horribly sarcastic. But anyway,  It hasn't been an easy ride getting here and it won't be easy ride getting out but I want you all to join me in the trials and tribulations that are going to go on in the twelve months.

I firstly want to outline some of the topics that will be posted here just so you know what this blog is going to be all about -

  • How and why I've ended up taking my academic career this far?
  • How do you manage the workload expected of a doctoral candidate?
  • 10 things that doing a doctorate has taught me
  • How to maintain your mental health and wellbeing as a student
  • Cheap and easy recipes! Because keeping your brain fuelled is crucial to this entire journey
  • Reviews of studies that interest me
  • Updates on my research findings (you would've heard it here first folks!)

And for now, I think that's enough to introduce you all to this blog page, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you in the comments section!
